Position zero: appearing above the first result
There is a spot on Google higher than the first result: the box that answers the question before the links even start.
It is called a featured snippet, or position zero. Google builds it from the passage of a page that best answers a specific question, and highlights it. Landing there wins visibility and authority, often more than the classic first place.
How you get there
You do not buy it, you earn it by answering well. You find the real question people ask, answer clearly and directly in the first lines, then go deeper. Short paragraphs help, as do ordered lists and a table when useful. The answer must stand on its own, as if read aloud.
It is the same text AI now uses to answer: clear, essential, no detours. Optimizing for position zero also means being understood by assistants.
How we do it: we study your audience's real questions and write pages that answer so cleanly they deserve the box at the top.
