Color and contrast: nice to look at and readable by all
Color gives a brand personality, but a color chosen purely on taste can make text tiring or impossible to read.
Light grey on white looks refined to the designer, but for many people it is nearly invisible. Someone whose sight is not perfect, someone looking at a screen in the sun, someone with a cheap screen: all struggle. Contrast is not an expert's whim, it is what decides whether text is actually readable.
How to keep beautiful and readable together
Choose a palette with enough contrast between text and background, without compromising on readability. Do not rely on color alone for information: a red and a green identical in shape do not help those who cannot tell them apart. Test the colors in real conditions, not just on a perfect screen in a dark room.
An elegant and readable brand is not a compromise: it is simply done well.
How we do it: we choose beautiful colors with the right contrast, so the site is elegant and truly readable by everyone.
