Retargeting: reminding people you exist without chasing them everywhere
You look at a pair of shoes once, and for two weeks those same shoes follow you everywhere, on every site, in every app. That is badly done retargeting, more annoyance than sale.
The idea itself is not wrong: reminding those who visited your site that you exist can help, because many people get distracted and a nudge is enough. The problem is measure. Chasing someone endlessly with the same hammering ad does not convince: it irritates, and sometimes drives away those who were interested.
How to do it without becoming a nuisance
A clear frequency cap, so the same person does not see your ad twenty times a day. A message that adds something, not just the same product repeated. A reasonable duration, not endless weeks. And respect for privacy choices, with no tricks. Reminding gently works; hounding does not.
The best advertising does not make people feel hunted, but think "ah right, I was thinking about that".
How we do it: we set up measured, respectful retargeting that reminds people you exist without annoying them.
