Not the same email to everyone: speaking to those who really listen

The easiest thing is to send the same email to the whole list. It is also the fastest way to make people lose interest.

Someone who just bought does not need the same message as someone who has not in a year. Someone interested in one product does not want to hear only about another. Sending everyone the same thing means talking to half of them about things that do not concern them, and every off-target email brings the unsubscribe closer.

How to split without overcomplicating

A few sensible groups are enough, not dozens. New subscribers and loyal customers. Those who bought recently and those who vanished. Those interested in one topic and those in another. Then you adapt the message: no need to rewrite everything, just make each email a little more right for who receives it. Fewer generic sends, more messages that feel written for you.

Respecting people's attention is also the best way not to waste it.

How we do it: we split the list into sensible groups, so every email speaks to who receives it instead of to everyone and no one.
