Numbers that inflate the ego and numbers that pay the bills

There is a number everyone loves to look at, total visits, and it is often the least useful of all.

Visits inflate the ego but do not say whether the site works. Ten thousand people who pass through and leave are worth less than a hundred who write, book or buy. Focusing on the wrong numbers leads to the wrong decisions: you chase traffic and forget the result.

The metrics that tell the truth

How many people take the action that counts: contacts, bookings, sales. Which pages and channels those people come from, to understand what really works. What it costs to win a customer, to know whether a channel is worth it. And what a customer is worth over time, not just at the first purchase. A few honest metrics are enough to steer well.

The rest is noise: nice to show in a meeting, useless for deciding.

How we do it: we focus on the few metrics that really matter, so choices look at the result and not the appearance.
